My work continues to explore the relationship between physical and metaphysical aspects of existence. Previously, measured elements have included chairs, beds, lamps, flies, and wallpaper as well as other signs of physicality. This current series of work 'Not The Floor', (inspired by the invention of a short story concerning a house move, a magical garden and a disappearing floor) - creates an environment where all these components converge. The challenge of drawing people was substantial and some humorous studies emerged. There is a similarity between a chair , a man, and a fly, and the attempt to transform flies through drawing to become more human, resulted in an almost separate body of work - "Fly, Man, Chair," which now includes dogs and aliens. Zen philosophy endorses the notion of continuation and nothing having absolute identity, and this fits so well with this theme.
In this Portfolio website, more attention has been dedicated to this series of work "Not The Floor,"and offshoots of that work as it is currently progressing, and also to allow details of larger works to be appreciated. This is an overall view and should perform as an introduction to my practice.
